What is special about an Anglia Dolls House?
I specialise in the creation of hand built, fully decorated, birch plywood 1/12th scale Georgian and Regency dolls houses for the discerning adult enthusiast1. New for 2011, I can also supply DIY Project houses for customers to decorate themselves.
My dolls houses are:
Ready to "move in" - unless a DIY Project House, Anglia Dolls Houses are fully painted, have scored stain-varnished wooden floors with lift up boards to conceal wiring, flag-paved basements with period kitchen details and other rooms have chimney breasts with plaster fireplaces, skirting, wainscoting, dado, cornice, architraves and ceiling mouldings fitted as standard.

Ely House basement. Like all my houses, the basement has a flag-effect
floor and includes an opening bread oven, inglenook arch
and a washing copper.

Plaster fireplace and wooden
panelling in the Coffee House.

Kensington House Drawing Room with Breakfast Room beyond.
The Drawing Room has fancy overdoors while both rooms have wainscot
panelling and elaborate coving.
Architecturally consistent - there are stairs between floors in realistic locations; chimney breasts align with chimney stacks and have a pot for each flue; rooms are proportioned according to purpose; etc.

Sudbury Hall main stairs and cupboard stairs.

with individually laid tiles and the terracotta chimney pots.

Kensington House ground, first and second floors.
Like a real house - with rooms behind rooms and exciting realistic views through opening side panels.

Unique - each house is handmade and particular attention is paid to the main entrance hall and hand crafted wooden staircases which provide an immediate clue that the house is not factory made from MDF.

stairs and wooden stained treads. You can also

Built to last - crafted from birch plywood, to pass on to the next generation.
Purchase
Prices for the standard houses are shown on the Prices page. As many customers prefer to commission a bespoke build, option prices are available separately.
Many of my houses are purchased as a special anniversary, birthday or retirement present. Houses are sometimes available ex-stock but normally there is a waiting list. A deposit is required on all orders for new builds which can take anything from 6 to 12 weeks to build depending on specification and workload.
Options and bespoke builds
I am always pleased to hear from customers who want a completely bespoke dolls house designed and built ("custom doll house" in the US) as these are usually challenging and enjoyable to design and execute.
Some customers like to buy a house that looks exactly like the one that they have seen on the website, even down to the choice of room colours. Others like to select options like the choice of exterior finish (see Prices page for details) and room colours selected from the Farrow & Ball colour card.
You may like the basic design of one of my standard houses but see it as a starting point for adaptation to suit your exact needs. See the Bespoke page for more information. During the build I can email you with weekly progress pictures so that you can see your house coming together.
Lighting
From Autumn 2011 all fully decorated Anglia Dolls Houses include a package of lights as standard with a quality Smallworld digital transformer and Easy Wire fused distribution strip. If you prefer to specify your own choice of lights I can build these in for you. Wiring is concealed behind a false back panel, under lift up floorboards and also down the chimney breasts. The way that the wiring is done makes it easy for you to add further lights at a future date. See the Electric Lighting Datasheet for more details.
What to do next?
If you would like more information about my dolls houses please call or email me.
Many customers like to make an appointment to visit me to discuss options over a cup of coffee and to see completed houses and houses under construction. This gives a chance to really appreciate what you can get for your money, what the options really look like and ensure that bespoke modifications are exactly what you want. When you are ready to proceed with the purchase, I will draw up a specification that describes all the options and modifications that were discussed and send you this with a quotation.
